The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
5.0
“I do not miss childhood, but I miss the way I took pleasure in small things, even as greater things crumbled. I could not control the world I was in, could not walk away from things or people or moments that hurt, but I took joy in the things that made me happy.”
Neil Gaiman never fails to amaze me! His stories always captivate me. It was the same again with the Ocean at the End of the Lane. This time it's about the narrator who returns to his childhood home as a grown man. In his memories he goes back to his life as a seven-year-old boy. His childhood was mysterious and overshadowed by the adventure he had with the girl Lettie. The book is full of magic and paranormal elements. Great characters and quite a few surprises! I really liked the fantastic elements and there were a few sentences in the book that will definitely stick in my head a little longer. The book has some deeply moving passages that make you wonder if such events are still slumbering in your own memories. Definitely one of my favorites!
