The Dark Tide by Josh Lanyon
5.0
A deeply satisfying and quietly emotional end to the series. As Adrien recovers from heart surgery, he finally begins to process much of the grief and trauma of the last few years. Orbiting around him are his extended bookshop family, determined to support him in different ways. Meanwhile, Jake has reached a point where he's finally ready and capable of communicating, and the only question left is whether Adrien can let his heart thaw. Lots of achy moments, lots of (kind of?) found family softness, lots of Jake being exactly what he always had the potential to be and more, lots of Adrien coping with complex emotions and having fundamental growth. A very rewarding read. Probably just edges out Fatal Shadows to be my favourite of the series.
