The Bonds That Tie series by J Bree is one of my all-time favorites. I will recommend it to anyone that asks. It’s a fabulous paranormal romance/reverse harem, but if RH isn’t your jam, the story is still amazing. Also Dravens, IYKYK.

The series centers around Oleander Fallows and her five “Bonds” that exist in this world where there are humans and Gifted. Bonds are Gifted others who are essentially the mates of one central bond. The Gifted all have some sort of powers and are made stronger with their Bonds. For reasons we slowly learn, Oleander went into hiding when her power emerged. The series starts as she is captured by her Bonds and forced to attend school to assist her with her Gift while under their protection.

For the most part, the Bonds are furious with Oleander and feel abandoned by the one person they believe was made for them, but as the series progresses, we peel back the layers of armor each of the Bonds is wearing. One of the things I love most about the series is how broken and damaged the protagonists are, and how beautiful it is being able to witness their path to healing and accepting Oleander.

The spice level of the series escalates with each book. While the Bonds are extremely important to the story, I feel like the plot is very interesting. There are so many things going on in the world that get revealed with each book. One of the best aspects of the plot is the masterful threat escalation each book provides. The big bad evil guy/situation gets more powerful and more dangerous at just the right level, while setting up the exposition for the next book. The books are told through the multiple POVs of Oleander and her Bonds, but the dialogue and thoughts of each character don’t feel repetitive
