Life After Power: Seven Presidents and Their Search for Purpose Beyond the White House by Jared Cohen
5.0
Life After Power by Jared Cohen--This is a book about one of the most bewildering positions one could occupy: former leader of the free world. By visiting the post-presidency lives of Jefferson, Quincy Adams, Cleveland, Taft, Hoover, Carter, and W. Bush, Cohen is able to reframe the office of the President itself. I usually think of these types of profiles as kind of gimmicky and lackluster, if interesting. But this book in particular is gripping. It brings just enough context from the presidency itself to inform the analysis of post-presidency life. Truly a delight. Two thumbs up.
