At The Bottom Of Everything by Ben Dolnick
5.0
Like Jonathan Safran Foer and John Green had a beautiful child this book is so good. The way Dolnick uses metaphors to express thoughts, sights, and sounds is insane. I absolutely loved the writing and it has become easily one of my favorite books of all time. If you haven't read it you're doing a disservice to yourself.
At the Bottom of Everything follows the story of Adam and his childhood friend Thomas. They made a horrible mistake in their youth that has followed both of them throughout their lives. Thomas vanishes and Adam is sent at the request of Thomas' family to go find him. This journey follows the subjects of guilt, life, acceptance, and perception.
I read this book at the perfect time in my life and it's one of those books that I'm sad I finished solely because I can never experience the pleasure of reading it for the first time again. I could list all the quotes I loved but it would take a very long time. Just experience it yourself, it's worth it.
