Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo
Did not finish book. Stopped at 40%.
I picked this up because I loved everything else I’ve read by Acevedo, but this was so different. I know it would be a literary novel, and it had a lot of aspects I usually love, but it just didn’t work for me.
The story follows two generations of women as they prepare for a living wake. It also jumps back and forth between the past and present often. Time jumps and multiple povs are two things that I usually love, but with the characters being older (between 33-70) I had a hard time imagining them.
I can see how people would love this, but literary fiction really isn’t for me
