Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong
5.0
Our Violent Ends picks up where we left off with These Violent Delights. We follow Roma and Juliette, two young heirs on opposing sides of a blood feud. With madness and violence everywhere, will they be able to save themselves and the city they love?
I am speechless. I thoroughly loved this book and am so glad I decided to read this sequel. While the first book was very slow-paced at the beginning, this one was jam packed with action from the very beginning. There's everything I could want in a book... enemies to lovers, true historical elements, intriguing fantastical elements, queer romance, revolution, and so much more.
I love Shakespeare retellings and this has to be my favorite that I've read so far. There's so many parallels to the original story, but Gong truly makes it unique at the same time. The ending was beautiful and sad, but so is life. I appreciated how the author wrapped up everything and answered all my questions from the first book but still left a bit of mystery.
All I can really say is: read this series! It starts off slow in the first book, but it's so worth it. It was an emotional rollercoaster and I'll be thinking about this book for a long time.
