Check, Please! Book 2: Sticks & Scones by Ngozi Ukazu

5.0

This took me FOREVER to read because I was reading it in the installments the author posted on her website during my tiny bits of free time while working remotely. My heart is so warm and fuzzy. It's nice to have a universe that is safe and welcoming because the real-life hockey universe is so far from it. I like having the characters love and support each other through everything and that everyone's quirkiness is hardly even questioned because hey, we're all quirky about something right? I like that Bitty and Jack get to be openly together and it doesn't have to be a negative thing, but that it is treated as a big thing with respect to what it means for representation in that fictional universe. And the ending?! It's what they deserve. ❤️ I really loved how this series was so good at showing that for better or for worse we're in this together and that we always have people ready to support us when we need it. This comic series has been with us for a long time and though I've barely been on the ride, I'm glad I got to be here through the ending.
