Reason for Hope: A Spiritual Journey by Jane Goodall
4.0
This autobiography has a lot in common with the version Goodall wrote for younger audiences, but with more of a focus on her philosophical development and spirituality. Her writing style in both books is straightforward and clear, it's a pleasant read.
It certainly makes sense as a topic since being Jane Goodall in today's world (or even the world of the 90s when the book was written) would require one really think about the nature of good and evil and whether there's hope in the world. It also puts some of her past in perspective. For instance, when she was told not to go public about truly vicious chimp wars she'd witnessed because it would give evidence to the scientists who believed humans are inherently cruel and so wars are just going to happen.
