I started this book in summer 2021. For three years it was dnfed at 80%. I had my own reasons for it and every fall I thought about it. In my mind I returned to that place. Not the characters, but the place described. Croy was so beautiful portrayed and it reminded me of a summer I had in Schottland when I was 10. I think there is nowadays a lack of such beautiful written stories with a really cozy atmosphere. The fall books are full of everything just not that fall. The ending was even another example of how gorgeous it portrayed the inevitable end. “The time between May and December is so long, it only shortens in September”
I definitely recommend to read at least one of Pilchers books. Take your time. Enjoy
