Preservations: a Novel of the '90s by Anne Arlington

4.0

Preservations by Anne Arlington (previously published as Mount Can't) is an intriguing little book, and a sublime read. The story has twists and turns galore, and goes from low farce to high tragedy from one page to the next. There is a feeling of otherness that runs throughout the narrative, a sense of being one step removed from reality. I read this as an allegory as much as a straight story, a reflection on human nature and humanity. It's a great read.
