“Don’t let others make you feel small because they’re struggling to measure up.”
If you read the Daevabad Trilogy and loved it, run, don't walk to pick this up. This short story collection was truly a testament to how much character work Chakraborty puts into her novels. The settings of each story ranged from years before the original trilogy to years after and everything in between. She had chapters for all my favorite characters, as well as ones that didn't seem to get the same closure as the more prominent characters.
It was an absolute joy to revisit these stories again. Jamshid was my absolute favorite and I was so happy to see him get closure we didn't necessarily see in the final book. I also absolutely loved seeing a chapter or two from Zaynab's POV. She was a seriously underrated character in the original series and I loved getting her to know better. This is one of those series that I wish I could read again for the first time.
