The Periodic Table by Primo Levi

Did not finish book.
I just couldn't get into this. I read a few of the stories and some of the character profiles are good, but the combination of lab and the overhanging atmosphere of WWII is just a little bit too serious. I find I like humorous stories of lab, because having been through my fair share of chem labs, what makes them fun/bearable is a hearty sprinkling of jokes and laughter. Adding the doom and gloom of WWII Italy on top of the pre-existing seriousness of chem lab was not the way I wanted to rehash the experience.
