The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
5.0
I love novels in verse and The Poet X was the first one I listened to and it was such a fantastic experience to hear the story unfold by the author’s own voice.
With the theme of poetry, the audio version is a must listen! I’m sure the written version is as good, as verse are also great to read at your own pace, so you can enjoy the story the way you want.
All of that to say, The Poet X did not disappoint and carried such a beautiful, difficult story with so much truth I had to remind myself several times that it was not a biography but really a novel. Not that it changes much to the story itself but just saying how true the story felt.
Listening to the voice of the author added a level of authenticity and realism to the story I really enjoyed.
I would recommend you check it out if you can.
Also, while I love and listen to many podcasts and read a lot, audiobooks are a really new things for me (let’s not count the Harry Potter ones, shall we?) and I think The Poet X is a very good fit to try it out as it is quite short but so good!
