This was such a fun read. It's romantasy, but the worldbuilding is such fun and leaves so much space for the next two books to build into the space that's left. The bureaucracy, while it's not talked about much, is, I assume, much like our own. But the spell building! The act of cradling (like a cat's cradle!) was such an interesting take on how to work magic! :D I loved that right away and that there are other styles of wielding magic beyond the cradling within this same world. I loved the taste of everything we got here, I loved the emotional connection between our heroes, I loved the pace at which the story progressed with both emotional moments and twists and traditionally trodden ground tilled anew! If you like magic, romance, worldbuilding, and a mystery to thread through the story, then you'll certainly enjoy A Marvellous Light.
