Darkkin Queen by John Conroe

3.0

Not the strongest in the series but consistent with the characters and story line anyway.

I found his use of Satanism as an explanation of how a person could get possessed to be low hanging fruit, and beneath his writing ability. Full disclosure, I'm a Satanist. What Conroe did in this book was essentially the same old Satanic Panic drivel that Americans have been indulging in for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. It only appeals to the ignorant, and the folks who still have something to learn from fear.

Also, Patrick Cronen is an excellent narrator and he's always been the perfect voice for this series, but holding Tanya's accent for the entire book was an obvious strain for him, and he let the accent slip with some frequency. I don't think this was his best effort, either.

So, nice to be in the world and with the characters, but it was a lazy execution in several ways.
