It's too early to tell, but right now, the story feels bland even with all the action and twists going on.
I like the characters, though they feel a little flat in a way. It's only the second volume, and while a lot is mentioned about the characters I dont feel like I know them yet. I know what their motivations are, but at the same time I don't know why I should care yet.
I can't help but compare this to InuYasha as it's the same author/creator. I instantly knew why I should care with those characters. (This is based on the anime, as I haven't read the manga, yet.).
With these characters I'm curious, but I don't "care" yet. They aren't as engaging as the characters from her other series right now. Mao is kind of flat, and I keep forgetting the name of the other main character, Nanoka. (I had to look that up.)
I do hope to feel more invested in the characters in the next volume.
