A clever world has been crafted in Fall of Ruin and Wrath without feeling info dumpy nor feeling too close to other JLA romantasy worlds. This felt fresh, wonderful and addictive.
Lis is the paramour of a Baron but is left alone in the main because of her abilities that serve purpose. The set up of Archwood was interesting to work out, allies and enemies were mixed, Lis was looking over her shoulder all the time but she had a few friends. She was a foolhardy type though and someone would call her brave but she found herself in an exceptional risky situation that put her in the line of a Lord.
The hierarchy of this world is super fascinating, I'm still working it out and I think all hasn't been revealed yet. The connection between mortal and someone further up the god-like hierarchy was purely physical but Lis found herself experiencing more. The more was somewhat steamy and great to read.
I'm keeping all this purposefully vague but suffice it to say, this is a fantastic plot that is so well characteristed. It doesn't feel reminiscent of other series and the chemistry is registering on the richter scale. I highly recommend this book and I am in some pain at the thought of the wait for the second installment.
