A perfectly adequate police procedural, this sequel to The Night Singer has improved the main characters’ story arcs and written a somewhat more interesting ending than that of the previous book. HOWEVER, I cannot recommend reading either of these two books (will be editing my review of the first one) unless you don’t mind open-ended mysteries, or can read Swedish. A secondary murder plot which runs through the first book remains unsolved at the end of this one and no other books in this series have been translated into English! A user review on GR implies it’s probably still unresolved after the third—very unsatisfying.
