Survival of the Thickest by Michelle Buteau
5.0
I quite enjoy celebrity/comedian memoirs about people I’m interested in, and this is no exception!! I think it’s an ideal mix of funny/light and personal/deep. Some celebrities can do one or the other, but it’s more unusual to have both laugh out loud portions and be tearing up a few chapters later. The whole section on IVF, surrogacy, and motherhood was really really good.
Cannot recommend the audio version of this one enough - if someone is looking for an entry into audiobooks, this is it!! Authors reading their own memoirs is always a good time, especially so for a comedian. She laugh a lot in it, and her tone/inflection in the comedy aspects adds so much. She also laughs a lot throughout, so the overall listening experience is very enjoyable.
