A Beauty and the Beast retelling mixed with a marriage of convenience and a Duke with a dark secret. Also, a group of Dukes named after the 7 deadly sins and (I think) their duchesses will be 7 virtues.
This is a great retelling. There were definitely Beauty and the Beast vibes throughout but it didn’t feel overdone.
Patience and Dorian were great fouls for one another. He’s the very wrathful Duke of Rath and she’s an 18 year old botanist from a poor family who he marries because of an old wrong that she knows nothing about. They had good chemistry from their first meeting- he fought it but it was there.
We do know what the big climactic issue will be early on. Patience doesn’t know though so it’s very much a waiting game. I think it was done well. I don’t want to say too much and give it away.
I’m really curious about the other dukes and I just can’t wait for their stories.
