This Is How You Lose Her by Junot Díaz
4.0
Junot Díaz has a unique voice. He also has a memorable set of characters and distinctive set of themes. All of this made the best stories in this collection truly outstanding--I particularly liked the first ("The Sun, the Moon, the Stars") and last ("The Cheater's Guide to Love"). But what made the best of the stories so good also made the collection feel like less than the sum of its parts because there was a sameness to the language and themes--particularly men cheating on women--that started to feel repetitive without enough variety in perspectives or themes or ways of telling the stories to keep me fully interested and engaged.
I really wish Díaz would write a second novel since [b:The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao|297673|The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao|Junot Díaz|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1391409748l/297673._SY75_.jpg|3281466] was so good.
