Although I watched the 2013 adaptation and remake of the original movie before reading this, it was still pretty fun and dark. It was definitely easy seeing this as Stephen King's first publication. Carrie as a character was really interesting, especially how she's an anti-villain. it was also really fascinating how we could see into her mind and how she's slowly going mad which was something that couldn't have possibly been brought into the big screen.
