Oooohhhh I loved this. We finally got the sort of slow-burn I’ve been waiting for in this series, so I’m a very happy girly.

Yes, Colin does not come across well in parts of this and the proposal (if you can call it that) was so out of the blue I’m still working out what happened, but I’d rather a flawed, complex character than an irritatingly perfect one. This was a book about hidden identities - both Penelope’s as Lady W and Colin’s as the man behind the smiling facade. And, I suppose, the difference between an imagined love and reality; growing up and realising that the man you’re infatuated with in your mind is not the same as the man standing before you.

Finally, I’ve got to give a special shout out to the first 3 paragraphs which were so brilliant I sent a photo to my friend declaring my renewed excitement for Series 3.

“Falling off a horse tended to do that to a man.”
