Love this story because of all the quiet references to the culture given throughout it as well as it being almost an epic fantasy. Two seemingly separate storylines are linked by the idea that two characters are more than they seem: hints are dropped that they know each other and are trying to influence the two societies in different ways to prove a point to each other. In a great twist it seems that they may have each inspired their respective "mentors" to try the opposite way. A very subtle tale.
