The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen

5.0

♡ LOVED! A heart wrenching, playful, emotional, and giggle filled book. This book portrayed the complicated & messy aspects of life of life without making it overbearing and immature. Mercy feeling alone in her larger, well-meaning family after trying so hard to please them. Hart physically ensuring that he stays alone out of fear that he will lose them if he's immortal. Mercy & Hart are a perfect fit because they understand each other and feel less alone in their friendship/relationship.

♡ I thought it was hilarious they way the fmc and mmc had that insta-lust but immediate hatred for each other- the enemies/dislike to lovers trope was written so so well. I did think that in their letters, there was definitely some insta-love there, however it worked for the story and their characters because they both want so badly to connect with someone without the pressure that comes with real life and first impressions.

♡ I LOVED all the characters- especially Horatio and Bassareus, they cracked me up every time they popped up. Duckers was a sweetie and I lived for his and Hart's friendship and loved their bickering.

♡ The world building!! So amazing!! I loved learning about the stories of the Gods and how things played out. I found myself wanting to read more about the warden and his dynamic with life and Hart's mom.
