The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien, Brian Sibley
5.0
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
How does a fantasy fan even begin to write a review for Lord of the Rings? It is one of my most beloved series of all time, and has had a huge impact on me as a lover and writer of fantasy. It's a beautiful and inspiring tale of courage, friendship, and so much more.
In The Fellowship of The Ring we follow the beginning of the journey of the ring-bearer. In this reread, I read it out loud to my younger brother, and I found that experiencing the book this way was wonderful. By slowly taking my time through the lengthy descriptions and world building, I found some absolutely lovely bits of writing I would have swept passed before. I was able to truly soak up the words, the world, and be immersed.
5 out of 5 stars, always.
