This book felt so different from the first one. I really enjoyed the first one, the pacing and characters were great. And the chemistry was so good between Quinn and Lazarus.

This one was a transition book with not a lot going on. The little action that happens near the end is cleared up really quick (within a handful of pages). This book also didn't focus on the relationship between our main characters much at all, and more so focused on them waiting to speak to the Pirate Queen. The writing felt different, younger or rushed perhaps, and I struggled to stay engaged. I've heard a bit about the third book in this series so I pushed through. It's a shame because you'd think a book about a Pirate Queen's kingdom would be fun.

Overall, I was kinda disappointed. this was a bit boring for me and it felt like it dragged on despite not being that long of a book.
