Some amazing stories in this collection! 'Night School', 'The Student's Wife,' 'The Ducks,' 'Jerry and Molly and Sam,' and in particular 'Neighbours,' are all fantastic stories worthy of study. Carver has a knack for showing the hopelessness of being working-class in a capitalist society and the desperation felt by his characters. Stories of infidelity are crushing and the title story, 'Will You Please Be Quiet, Please,' is almost at times difficult to read. Carver is the master of using simple language to draw out big emotions and I highly recommend to anyone interested in reading realist fiction.
