The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
1.0
I've been waiting to read this for as much as I can remember, and I regret reading it so much now. I was enjoying the book at first, until I found out that the book is actually just a Christian allegory. It was heavy-handed and I feel like it alienates readers who do not share the same religious beliefs. I mean, why bring religion in a fantasy world?
I also know that we are in other times and that this book was written over 70 years ago but it makes me sick to read a book where the male brothers are the brave ones, those who can wield a sword and kill the enemy while the sisters are hiding behind a tree. Of 4 siblings, the boys are the protagonists of the story (Edmund and Peter) while the girls are mere decorations. I know it's a classic but that doesn't mean that it gets a pass in my opinion. I'm not planning to continue the series.
