This Will Be My Undoing: Living at the Intersection of Black, Female, and Feminist in (White) America by Morgan Jerkins

3.0

This is a tough one to rate. On one hand, there are several moments in this collection that are important and taught me a lot. There were also points made that the author didn't really explain well, or she would make a strong statement that maybe warranted more explanation but then move on to another topic. I also don't know that she did enough wrestling/reckoning with some of the problematic shit that was said in here.

Many of the essays felt like reproductions of things I've read on the internet over the past few years and weren't as unique. I think where Morgan Jerkins shines is when she is talking specifically about her experiences, telling her stories as memoir. Overall, the subject matter was great but I thought the execution was lacking. A very worthwhile read nonetheless.
