Tiger Work: Poems, Stories and Essays About Climate Change by Ben Okri
4.5
I really enjoyed these stories, essays, and poems about climate change. I thought with all the different types of format that I would feel disrupted when reading. But I actual grew to enjoy the flow of storytelling as we jumped from story, essay, poetry (not necessarily in that order).
I loved the attention Okri took in calling out how world leaders deny climate change even when something is so blatantly and clearly due to climate change. I like how a lot of the writings felt very present moment, but how a lot of them were future based.
His story about a couple finding out that something is messed up in their water supply has remained in my mind weeks after reading. It stayed in my mind cause those this was an extreme story I couldn't help but think of Flint, Michigan and many other places in the states and the world where the water has been poison due to human forces.
I think this a great work of Okri's and will be one that I continue to recommend.
