The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
5.0
The second installment out of the Winternight Trilogy. This sequel continued to showcase Vasya's tale right after the event that happened in book one, 'The Bear And The Nightingale'.
Book one successfully resonated the perfect tone for my liking and the sequel did not disappoint. It delivered yet again the magic that was present in the previous book.
A little older now and mature, Vasya went out to discover the rest of the world as if she spent her whole life caged. And yet, one could not step out freely without them damn walls. Even in fairytales, life sucks.
I was, once again, caught blushing admiring Vasya's courage and determination. And with her horse, Solovey, I could not stop myself wishing I can at least be that goddamn horse. Or steal one.
I highly recommend this series. Not only is it well-written, fully developed characters. Proses that'll make you weak and blush and wowed. But it, also, delivers a strong female character the right way, it touches such representation with care and in a realistic approach despite it being a Fantasy novel.
The storyline is engaging, never a dull moment. With a touch of political drama, Family relationships, and how one handles faith.
For sure, part of my 2019's best read.
