Lily has had enough. With her divorce, 5 years ago, she's buried herself in her work. When she catches her daughter, Holly, with marijuana, and her son, Braden, with alcohol, it's enough reasoning for her to pack up and get away from the city which she has deemed as the prime influences to her children's behaviors. Distant from her two kids, she realizes that following the divorce, she hasn't had much time to be with them and is beginning to see that in their actions, behavior, and attitude towards her and her divorce.
Confiscating their electronics as well, Lily moves to her childhood home in Comfort, Texas, back to her roots. Mack Cooper, someone she's known from her own school days, is currently living in her old home as the tenant, but she allows him (and his 40 goats!) to stay as she only needed one area of the house. They'll share the living and kitchen area, but mostly they'd be out of each other's hairs. But as time goes on, and as Lily and Mack get to know each other and help each other through their past problems with relationships. Fitting each other like the perfect puzzle piece, Lily is always there to listen to Mack, Mack is a fantastic father figure to her kids.
There's romance, there's friendship, there's small-town life, and of course, there's plenty family love. As Holly and Braden get to know this new life, relationships are healing and hearts are thawed.
A quick, fantastic and heartwarming read.
