The Art of Scandal by Regina Black

3.5 stars

The Art of Scandal is a well-written romance that features characters with depth. Even so, the story and characters just didn't grab me. I think that might be more me than the story. The MCs are part of prominent DC families who care far more about money, power, and appearances than anything else. It was often a frustrating world to be a part of. The MCs fortunately are more reasonable and want to escape the boxes they've been put in. Rachel is the wife of an up-and-coming politician and Nathan is the son to a wealthy family with a coffee empire.

At the beginning, Rachel discovers her long-time husband is cheating on her and planning to leave, but convinces her to play the part of his doting wife. By chance, Rachel meets Nathan, a much younger, intriguing man. I was a little disappointed that the spice doesn't even start until 40% into the book! I liked the personal journeys of Rachel and Nathan. They start out lost, but gain confidence in themselves and figure out how to succeed. The story is intriguing and very readable and filled with some surprises.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
