The Grace Year by Kim Liggett

5.0

I completed this book in one sitting and pulled an all nighter to finish the book! The Grace Year weaves a tale of a county where girls of a certain age are supposed to have gained magical powers (around inception of menstruation) and are sent to a home where they safely drain out their sinful magic n return home pious and then they were either married off or sent to work in fields and outskirts of town. This is called their Grace Year.

Kim Liggett had made the story gripping since start to end, in the middle it does get a lil confusing. Its written through first person narration. I loved Michael's character!! The story was full of women empowerment, hints of LGBTQ+, psychological indepth and the power of delusions, child abuse, and other triggering aspects are emphasised.
