The romance between Rowan and Aelin finally got over friendship which made me so happy. You gotta love enemies to friends to lovers trope. We got to see how Rowan and Aelin missed each other on their time apart and how they would do anything to each other.

Rowan is one of my favorite characters in the series and I'm so glad we finally got more of him. I also loved his growing friendship with Aedion. It was so adorable how Aedion almost went fanboy in him as Rowan's the most powerful full-blooded fae male alive, a legend and he had heard so many stories about him. These two characters are so underrated. Aelin is so important to both of them and they'd do anything for her. They would rather die than let anything happen to her.

Another character I'm really liking in this book is Lysandra. I was so surprised because after reading The Assassin's Blade I thought there would be no way I would like her. I'm glad Aelin understood that she wasn't nearly as spoiled and selfish as Arobynn made her believe and they were able to finally become friends. They were both young and stupid and should've seen each other as allies instead of enemies like Arobynn wanted them to.

I still think Manon's overrated but I'm learning to like her. I hope to see more of her character growth and more scenes with Dorian. I was happy to see her interact with Elide and save her. i love that Abraxos is supposed to be a badass wyvern but instead he liked smelling flowers and making puppy eyes at Elide.

I get Chaol went through a lot but he kept blaming everything and anything on Aelin which pissed me off. He could've fallen on his own feet and blamed it on her. The guy dated assassin but somehow now decided that she couldn't be trusted when he was the one working to the king on his own free will, knowing all the people he killed. I didn't really understand why he kept mentioning Sorcha since he barely even knew her. Chaol was just such a hypocrite during the whole book. He was ready to marry her until he found out who she is and now he was blaming even his own failings to her. Chaol was so busy blaming Aelin that he even dismissed what she's been doing these months, thinking she was just playing with magic and her fae prince. I just hated how he treated her like a monster and then threatened Aedion like he was so much better.

All in all this book surprised me but Chaol made me groan way too many times. He was the worst and I can't wait to get to see his redemption in his own book. This book made me cry, laugh and it reminded why I loved Rowaelin so much.
