Beartown by Fredrik Backman
5.0
My god, this book.
This man writes the most amazing characters. I'm not even gonna try to express how I felt while reading this because I honestly can't. I'm just in awe of Fredrick Backman's ability to capture life. It's mind blowing how the simplest of people can make such impacting characters.
This book is not even about hockey. It's about being a flawed human, going through life, trying to survive and to succeed, wanting to fit in, searching for validation. It's also about friendship. And family. And love. And grief.
This book is ultimately about the choices we make and our ability to live with the consequences of those choices. Even if I understand how some people consider it being cliché or exaggerated or romanticized, I fucking loved every single word.
Also, I love Benji with all my heart.
