4.5⭐️/ 4🌶️

A man recently retired from the military to a woman with a passion for reading even while at the gym. Hank and Bailey were two individuals who met one day while at the gym, and from there it sparked a sweet and endearing connection between the two, and it was a heartfelt romance. While the romance between Hank and Bailey was romantic, their story also illustrated the pain and trauma of their past. Please be sure to check trigger warnings before reading. Hank was a strong, protective yet shy man around Bailey, and Bailey was a sweet, bookish reader who loved to read spicy romances and put in work at the gym for her well being. Hank and Bailey were great together.

Among many things I’m an avid fan of, I really loved seeing a strong man who ends up being such a softie for the woman he likes, a.k.a. Hank with Bailey. Hank came back home after serving in the military and being back brought the memories of his past, but he was focused on settling in his life post military. The last thing Hank expected when he went to the gym nearby his place was a beautiful, blonde woman reading in between sets. Hank quickly found himself enamored with Bailey and the way he was protective over her as well as always making sure she was ok was great! Plus, seeing Hank basically become speechless and shy around Bailey made him endearing to me! Hank was all muscles and strength, but he was also a total softie bear.

Bailey was a likable character from being a bookish girlie to trying to do her best in her day to day life. With parts of Bailey’s past being included throughout the story, I was able to see that it wasn’t something she was over. Understandably, the kind of trauma Bailey had was something you couldn’t easily get over, it was something she lived with, and unfortunately at times it randomly appeared in her minds eye, and therefore prevented her from fully opening herself up. Once again, please check the trigger warnings before reading. Despite the sadness that lingered in Bailey’s backstory, I found her to be sassy, kind, sweet, and at times confident to Hank’s shyness.

The romance in this story was SO SWEET, ROMANTIC, and SWOON WORTHY! Every woman deserves a man like Hank Martínez! Hank was not only strong physically, but also thoughtful, and such a softie bear for Bailey! Hank was a great man all around, and seeing the romantic things he did for Bailey such as, reading to her when she had a bad day and the way he asked her to be his girlfriend! (Sigh) SWOONING! IM TELLING YOU! Also, despite Hank being kind of shy around Bailey, the way this man ended up being so vocal in and out of the bedroom was HOT! OOOOO MY MAN’S WAS SPEAKING SPANISH WAS BOTH HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE AND SO ROMANTIC! YES! Hank Martínez was an amazing male lead!

(Sigh) this was such a wonderful, thoughtful, sentimental, and hopeful romance. Both, Bailey and Hank had their own traumas that they faced from their pasts, and ultimately came out on top. I think the way the story was written was great in both pacing, and exploring the characters backstories. My favorite part of this story was Hank and Bailey’s relationship from acquaintances to friends to lovers. Throughout the whole story, I could feel the chemistry between Bailey and Hank, even before they got together, all that tension was rippling between them! Hank was the kind of man that made me want him for myself! Hank was out here doing the sweetest things, and again grand gestures aren’t always necessary, but the way that Hank paid attention to the smallest details in regards to Bailey had the greatest effect possible which was making Bailey (and me!) fall hopelessly in love with him! The story ended on a good note especially with the epilogue that showed Hank and Bailey beginning yet another chapter in their beautiful romance, but also giving hints at maybe the next book in the series??hmmmm, hint, hint potentially? Anyways, I would HIGHLY recommend reading this story if you’re looking for a romance with heartfelt moments, growth, friendship, swoon worthy words, when he speaks in a different language, she’s a bookish girlie, and much more!
