didn’t finish bc nothing happens, and i get angrier and angrier the more i read. i’m not going to read alizeh fully stockholm syndrome herself to her kidnapper, there is no tension there and every moment i was tortured through his perspective, the more my resentment grew. the tension between alizeh and cyrus is so forced. and it gives nothing. alizeh has more sexual chemistry w his mum then him, or w that jinn that started screaming when she sees her. like be so fr. cyrus’ pov just reinforced why gender based violence is endemic. he gets visions of a girl, of course he lusts uncontrollably after her and kidnaps her and coerces her to be his wife. keeps her in lock and doesn’t let her go out. absolute twat.
if i had half a fuck more to give, i’d read on for dean, huda and omid. they were a cute ragtag group of people, but we never got to actually explore them properly bc we only saw their actions through the perspective of a conceited classist prick of a prince who has the craziest victim complex known to man. mafi really knows how to write her love interests. one is a kidnapper and the other is just a conceited prick. fucking brilliant. give the most powerful ruler of her world her pick of shit and shit. the tension between huda and the prince could’ve been done artfully if kamran still didn’t have his mental cock 20 inches deep into alizeh’s eyes. him feeling angry bc of a slight to huda comes out of nowhere and again is so stupid bc it could’ve been done so well. but the other issue is that cyrus is such a cunt that alizeh was a better fit w kamran, but at this point she should honestly stay single and live in the clouds bc all these people are useless. ALSO WHERE DID HER PERSONALITY GO??
