I actually started this one before I read Olga Dies Dreaming and kind of glad I did because I had such a favorable impression of this book and Olga wasn't a favorite for me so I had high hopes this one would end well for me and it definitely delivered. I thought exploring the art world and academia through the eyes of a woman of color was fantastic. It appears this book is based on the life and death of Ana Mendieta, a Cuban American artist. I didn't know this until I read other reviews but it definitely gives an even more sombering perspective on the book. I'm interested to see what Gonzalez will write next!
