“By all the gods, he felt like sin wrapped in lace and silk”
An unbelievably tender and spicy romance. Silvyr is the heir to the Tyrant King, a bloodthirsty and awful king set ong conquest but Silvyr is unlike his father in every way. When Chief Brokil of the orcs takes him captive in a bid for peace with the Tyrant King, the two are undeniably drawn to each other.
✨the romance✨
Silvyr and Brokil’s romance was surprisingly tender and emotional for such a spicy book. I was expecting a romance with steamy scenes which is definitely delivered but there was so much emotion and depth to their romance. The romance and connection between the two really blew through my expectations for this book.
The spice is nicely placed throughout the story and extremely entertaining! There is so much chemistry between our characters from the beginning of the book and it really helps make the spice engaging.
In addition, the romance itself a slow building fire. While it definitely starts out an initial lust and connection, it builds into a genuine and sweet bond of love. Silvyr and Brokil understand each other in a way no one else can and support each other’s desires for peace and community.
✨the plot✨
While the plot was predictable at times, I didn’t care because it was just that good. There were definitely points where I knew what was coming up and could see some of the standard fantasy romance plot points happening. Even points that were a bit more predictable were done extremely well and did not impact my enjoyment on the story at all.
These predictable moments were also more so in the middle of the story. The ending was very enjoyable and I like the direction they took. The ending was exactly what I wanted from the story and Im honestly so glad with happily ever after that we get.
✨the characters✨
Silvyr is my new favorite character. He is full of so much kindness and intelligence despite the pain and suffering he endured. Despite being told his entire life mercy and gentleness was a weakness, he still strives to be good and bring safety to his companions. Because most of the story is from his perspective I feel we are able to connect with him more. I do wish we got to see a bit more of Brokil’s perspective especially to see him falling in love the same way we see Silvyr falling.
“Mercy being the utmost sin Silvyr committed that night.”
