I am really in awe of this book. I have no words to express how surprised I am because I really didn’t think I would love it as much as I did, especially because my favorite novel of all time is The Secret History and that I tend to dislike books that are too similar to each other. But both of those books are really entities of their own.
I love how it was told, like its own little play on stage, with intermissions alongside the ex-detective of the case. Some things were predictable, and others simply gutted me out of the blue. It’s intricate and delicate and cruel and violent. I can’t believe this isn’t a movie or a TV show yet because the story they could tell based on this novel would be an immediate success. My favorites scene was the Hamlet scene in the middle of the book, such a lyrical scene told in beautiful vivid prose.
