The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

5.0

Best thing I've read in a long time. Utterly FASCINATING, well constructed telling of the birth of the first successful "perpetual" cell line culture "HeLa" and the revolutionary medial discoveries, legal, moral and ethical storm that surrounds them. MOST importantly the individual human life that originated the cells, and the still continuing impact on her descendants.

Skloot masterfully combines the human-story with the scientific story in way that makes this difficult to put down. Read it.
