Contrary to some low reviews, I actually LOVED the conceit of the narrator. They were fun, funny, and let you glide over what could have been boring inaction common with historical fiction. The second half did slow down a lot. I think I would have laid the three acts over each other instead of devotingthe middle third to soley relationship growth. Would have kept it interesting and made the emotions more genuine. I found myself speeding up to get it done with rather than out of interest, so I docked some for that. Overall breezy and entertaining. Would make an excellent adaptation.
