This is a simple story with a sweet romance and a sentimental heart. I think part of me would have liked to see even more relationship development before the impending climax - maybe a forbidden love angle to add to the forbidden friendship - but I can appreciate that the narrative doesn’t thrust these characters into something committed right away when one of the leads is distinctly averse to certain contact. I just think the two are adorable and I would have loved more little mundane scenes together as their friendship built up. As it stands, it’s straightforward and while there is some question to how the magic of this world will settle, it’s not unsatisfying to approach the end.
