OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!! So much grief, this book really tugged at my heart strings.
Jared is Aleena's older brother's best friend, but he was also her friend. The three got along well, but everything changes when tragedy strikes. Now Jared is distant and doesn't come around anymore.
Although this book is mostly present, we get little glimpses at their life before and during tragedy. This book was really hard to read and you could really feel Jared's guilt and him desperately trying to run away from that. In which he turns to drugs to drown out the noise - LITERALLY FUCKED ME UP!!!
Jared ends up going to treatment and when he gets out, his first instinct is to find Aleena and his best friend. Here, he crashes on their couch until he can get his footing back. But the pull between him and Aleena is so strong and he just wants to be near her. However, when things get challenging, she is a trigger for him and has the potential to send him in a downward spiral. This is even more prevalent because he believes everything he touches he ruins and he does not want to ruin her.
But like... by him doing this constant back and forth he is.
Anyways, I was really rooting for Jared and him to heel and know he is deserving of love.
My daddy issues go strong with the "I can fix him" and baby, I loved this book!! 5 stars, amazing!!
