We’re back with another Elsie Silver book, but with a new small town, new and previously mentioned characters, and a slew of great tropes ranging from billionaire single dad, to brother’s best friend, and secret mutual pining! Ford Grant, also known as, Willa Grant’s brother, was a successful businessman who was focused on a new business venture of opening his own record company. Living in Rose Hill allowed Ford the time and space to work, and get away from the city life he once lived. Until, suddenly one day he got the biggest surprise of his life, a twelve year old girl showing up saying she was his daughter! For Rosie Belmont, she was living the city life, working, and her life sounded great, but it wasn’t all it was chocked up to be. When things ended up turning upside down in Rosie’s life, she decided to go back home to Rose Hill to figure out her next steps. In addition, to being back home, she was face to face with none other than Ford Grant. An all new small town romance with Elsie’s flair of lovable characters, humor, lighthearted fun, depth, and more, it was good to be in Rose Hill.

Ford Grant was a handsome, billionaire bachelor who loved music and growing his business, but also cherished those close to him. Before this book, all I really knew was that Ford was Willa’s brother, and so, with this book I was able to meet the man I had heard in passing for some time now. I liked Ford, he had this mix of slightly grumpy exterior, but also a quick, playful side that came out even more when he was trading comebacks with Rosie. Now, the thing that most intrigued me aside from the surprise of Ford being a Dad, was the knowledge that Ford had always had a crush on Rosie ever since they were younger!!!! The things Ford would say in his chapters made me see just how much he was pining over Rosie, and omg it was so great!
Rosie was back in Rose Hill, but it wasn’t the exact homecoming she intended. Right away in the beginning, with Rosie losing her job, feeling unsure about her relationship, and basically out of sorts over everything, it seemed like going home was the right thing for her to clear her mind. Rosie was the kind of woman who always tried her best to be the one her parents wouldn’t worry about, but in doing so, it put more pressure on her to succeed on her own. In addition, Rosie was kind of a people pleaser in the way that, she wanted to make sure she accomplished goals that met with the expectations she thought she was suppose to do from getting a good job, having the ideal boyfriend, etc. With every milestone that Rosie checked off, it ultimately didn’t mean anything since she didn’t feel happy with it. Aside from Rosie trying to figure out the hot mess of her life, she was sassy, quick, smart, and sunshine. Between her moments of being lighthearted, and pushing Ford’s buttons, Rosie was also a very driven person when it came to working especially when she started working for Ford.
Ford and Rosie have always had a mutual crush on each other, but they didn’t know the other person liked them in that way. Seeing the way Ford and Rosie interacted highlighted just how well they got along both professional and casually. Plus, even when Rosie started working for Ford, she was still quick as a whip and sassy to push his buttons which was like any normal day for Ford around Rosie. Once Ford’s feelings for Rosie became more prominent was when things got a lot more entertaining for me! Ford obviously cared about Rosie, and seeing him get all grumpy over Rosie being around her boyfriend showed how much he wanted Rosie for himself! Also, the subtle moments in which Ford would be so intense with Rosie was hot and again spoke to how much potential there was for them to become more.
Brother’s best friend, small town romance, and a billionaire single dad, it was a fun and entertaining story. Elsie knows how to fully immerse readers into her small town storylines, and once again I was immediately sucked into this new small town of, Rose Hill. Ford and Rosie were great characters from their constant back and forth snarky banter, challenging one another, and having all those years together from their past become the foundation of their romance. I liked how Ford was grumpy, but also had this quiet/shyness to him that in some subtle moments popped out which I thought was endearing. Rosie was a spot fire, and being back in Rose Hill especially around Ford brought back the fire in her that she missed. Seeing the romance go from frenemies to lovers was good, but I also enjoyed seeing how Rosie and Ford were always there for one another, even when things got heated in the moment. I think with this being the first book in a new series was a good start as inevitably we’ll see more of the characters like, West, Rosie’s older brother. All in all, this was a good book, I had fun, and I loved seeing Ford happily go along for the ride of being a dad, and having Rosie at his side.
