I think this is a lovely concept and it has a lovely revelation and end but the translation leaves something to be desired and maybe that’s also just a reflection of how it’s written in Japanese. It’s dialogue heavy and slow but it still feels awkwardly paced and rushed somehow. I think it’s worth the read for even just having a different perspective on life than many other books surrounding imminent death. This is a story with platitudes about how life is worth living for the sake of living itself but a reflection that life lived just is. I appreciate that for some reason.
