Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

Did not finish book. Stopped at 50%.
Didn't finish this, so no rating.

Apparently this one is McCarthy's "magnum opus" and a "masterpiece"...

I've simply decided that Cormac McCarthy is simply not an author I'm ever going to enjoy. I will say he is hell of a writer, and I enjoy his word choices...but I need something to happen. I need a story. Otherwise, all those enjoyable words add up to very little when I've reached the end.

Which, admittedly, I couldn't do with either this one, or his previous delectable word salad, Suttree.

I'd fully intended on reading his entire set of work, but after reading his first three novels and not enjoying any of them, and giving up on this and the one before it, and, finally having read both The Road and No Country For Old Men, I basically made it halfway.

Of all of those, the only one I got any enjoyment from was the No Country novel.

And I'm out.
